Brittni is an artist in Tokyo, Japan.

Her work explores themes in motherhood, mental health and personal identity.

Brittni’s current body of work is a deeply personal collaboration with her three-year-old daughter, Ari. After a decade away from painting, she returned to it as a way to confront her depression and reconnect with the times she felt most like herself. Working primarily in acrylics and oil pastels, she layers marks and gestures, embracing imperfection as a reflection of lived experience while allowing Ari to contribute freely, challenging her instinct for structure. By integrating her daughter’s spontaneous gestures into each piece, Brittni creates both an intimate dialogue and a visual record of their shared experiences.

Inspired by the rich hues of Renaissance paintings, she blends soft, romantic tones with bold, expressive strokes to capture fleeting moments—joy, exhaustion, pain, tenderness—offering a visual language for emotions that are often difficult to articulate. She creates in her home, surrounded by toys and the noise of daily life. There is something deeply poetic, she feels, about painting with intensity in the chaos; it breathes life into her work. Painting allows her to navigate the complexities of motherhood, mental health, and selfhood. Through this work, she invites viewers into an intimate space, encouraging reflection on their own relationships, vulnerabilities, and personal narratives.
